Hahoe is a ticketed UNESCO village that is still home to residents, not an open-air film set. Seasonal admission cutoffs, the free internal shuttle and separately scheduled mask-dance performances matter, while private houses, stays, food businesses and special night events keep their own access rules.

DAY-OF PLAN
Know the sequence before you go.
Times from the operator are kept separate from Korea Era planning guidance.
01
Use the warm-season village window
The official guide lists 9:00 AM-6:00 PM operation. Arrive well before final entry to allow for the shuttle, lanes and return to the visitor complex.
02
Use the shorter winter window
The listed winter operation ends at 5:00 PM. Darkness and cold reduce the usefulness of river and village walking even when a special event runs later.
03
Treat the mask dance as a separate programme
The 2026 notice lists Saturday-Sunday in January-February and Tuesday-Sunday in March-December. Venue, capacity and cancellation can change, so recheck the current notice.
Can I enter Hahoe Village at any time because people live there?
No. Tourist entry uses seasonal paid admission and final-entry cutoffs even though Hahoe remains a living village.
Is the Hahoe mask dance performed every day?
No. The 2026 notice lists weekends in January-February and Tuesday-Sunday from March through December, normally at 2:00 PM. Recheck the current notice for changes.
Can I reach Hahoe Village without a car?
Yes, when the current outward and return local buses match your Andong arrival. Check both directions on the travel day and keep a taxi fallback.
Is the whole village a museum?
No. It is a protected historic village where residents still live, so some buildings and lanes are private even after admission.
Is the mask dance included every day?
Do not assume so. Performances use a separate seasonal schedule; confirm the official listing for your date.
Can I combine Hahoe and Byeongsan Seowon?
Sometimes, but only with a current bus, shuttle or prearranged taxi and a protected return to Andong.

4. Traveler tips
Use the ticket-and-shuttle visitor complex as the arrival point rather than trying to drive into the resident village.
Keep voices low, stay on public lanes and never photograph through doors or windows without the resident's permission.
If the 2:00 PM performance is essential, confirm it before leaving Andong and arrive early enough for shuttle and seating limits.
Read the village-bound and downtown-bound bus times before entering; rural service gaps matter more than the outward ride alone.
This is a living village, not a theme park. Keep noise down, respect private homes and follow barriers and photography notices.
Mask-dance performances and seasonal programs have their own schedule. Confirm the date instead of treating them as daily admission inclusions.
Add Byeongsan Seowon only after confirming a current through bus, shuttle or taxi and the return.
