DAY-OF PLAN
Know the sequence before you go.
Times from the operator are kept separate from Korea Era planning guidance.
01
Check the seasonal ticket cutoff and monorail operation
Samcheok currently lists 9:00 AM-6:00 PM with ticketing to 4:30 PM from March through October, and 9:00 AM-5:00 PM with ticketing to 4:00 PM from November through February. The separately operated access monorail can use another cutoff, and safety notices override both.
02
Buy the correct Hwanseongul product
Hwanseongul and reservation-based Daegeumgul are different cave visits. Read the destination name before paying or joining a queue.
03
Keep enough time for the cool, wet interior and return
Steps and damp surfaces slow the route. The final-entry rule is not a promise that every visitor can finish comfortably from that moment.
No. They are separate cave attractions in the Daei cave zone. Daegeumgul uses its own reservation system, while Hwanseongul has a separate admission and access flow.
Does the monorail make the whole cave step-free?
No. It assists with part of the approach, but the cave route still includes damp, uneven and stepped sections. Confirm current accessibility with the operating office.

4. Traveler tips
Say and show “환선굴” at the ticket area so you do not accidentally follow the Daegeumgul reservation flow.
Allow substantial walking and queue time even if using the monorail; it does not remove every slope or step in the visit.
Bring a light outer layer and non-slip footwear year-round because cave temperature and moisture differ from the car park.
Search “강원특별자치도 삼척시 신기면 환선로 800 대이동굴관리소 환선굴” in Naver Map or Kakao Map and confirm the exact entrance and return route.
Recheck weather, trail or garden closures, last entry and seasonal conditions before departure.
