Booking and taking a Korean pottery class

Pick hand building for direct shaping, wheel throwing for a guided spinning-wheel experience, or painting a prepared piece when you need a same-day object. Confirm what a beginner can realistically complete rather than booking from the most dramatic photograph.

Check date, start and end time, language, minimum and maximum participants, age, companion policy, stairs, seated posture, wheel access, cancellation and late-arrival rule. Ask directly about mobility, sensory or hand-support needs before payment.

Watch out A tourism listing proves that a class type exists, not that a workshop has space or foreign-language instruction on your date.

Ask how many pieces are included, their size limit, whether the instructor trims, dries, fires and glazes them, which colors are available and whether decoration or a second firing costs extra. Save the stated completion window without treating it as a guaranteed delivery date.

Choose same-day prepared-piece painting, later studio pickup, domestic delivery or international shipping only after checking destination, address format, packing, tracking, customs declaration, carrier, breakage remedy and the complete extra charge. Do not use an accommodation that will close before delivery.

Wear washable clothes and closed, stable shoes, tie back long hair, remove loose sleeves and jewelry, protect cuts as instructed and keep nails practical. Store phones and bags outside the wet work and wheel path.

Use the wheel speed, water, wire, trimming tools and shared equipment only after demonstration. Keep hands where the instructor shows, stop a wobbling wheel before reaching across it, and never touch, open or approach a working kiln or hot ware without staff permission.

Watch out A workshop class is not permission to operate firing equipment independently.

Keep walls, handles and joins within the instructor's workable limits, score and slip joins when directed, and accept that drying and firing can shrink, warp, crack or change glaze color. Ask before engraving another person's name, copyrighted character or commercial mark.

Before leaving, match your name or order number to the piece, photograph the unfinished work for identification and save the studio's Korean name, contact, chosen glaze, expected completion, pickup or shipment method and receipt. Verify the final address again when the studio requests it.

Inspect a collected or delivered piece before discarding packaging, follow the studio's care and food-use statement, and report damage through the agreed channel with photos. Share a dated update about language, access, firing wait or shipping outcome without exposing another participant's work or contact details.
