USE IT ON THE TRIP
QUICK ANSWER
WHAT TO DO
Search the exact origin and destination shown on your itinerary. KTX and conventional KORAIL trains use the KORAIL booking service, while some services and stations have separate operating rules.
Watch out Do not treat Seoul Station, Yongsan Station, Cheongnyangni Station and Suseo Station as interchangeable.
Open the KORAIL website or KORAIL+ app from an official source, select the date, passenger count and train, then review the operator and station names before payment.
Look for 승차권 · Tickets · KTX
Watch out Search ads and third-party sellers may add fees or different cancellation rules.
Allow time to find the platform, use lifts with luggage and pass through a large station. Save the Korean station name and the entrance you plan to use.
Save the mobile ticket, train number, car and seat where you can open them without data. Keep the payment confirmation until the trip is complete.
Watch out A payment receipt alone may not be the boarding ticket.
Match the train number and departure time, then follow the platform shown on the live board. Platforms can change, so the board wins over an old screenshot.
Look for 타는 곳 · Platform · 열차번호
If plans change, open the booking in the same official channel and review the current deadline and fee before cancelling or changing it.
Watch out Do not assume another train accepts the old ticket or that an unreserved seat is available.
COMPARE OPTIONS
| Option | Best for | Cost | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single KORAIL ticket | Most travelers with a fixed route and a small number of train journeys. | Live route fare · One booked departure | Station, operator, cancellation and seat conditions belong to that ticket. |
| KORAIL Pass | Eligible international travelers taking enough covered trains to beat single fares. | Current pass price · Selected travel days | SRT and some other services are excluded, and a seat reservation still matters. |
| Station ticket office or kiosk | Travelers needing staff help or making a simple trip with availability left. | Live route fare · Purchase at the station | Busy trains may already be sold out when you arrive. |
AVOID THESE MISTAKES
Do this instead Check the exact station in Korean and English and route to that station before paying.
Do this instead Compare every covered single fare and remember that excluded operators do not add pass value.
Do this instead Save the actual ticket and its train, car and seat details offline.
Do this instead Build in time for station navigation, lifts and a live platform change.
