Myeongdong Cathedral

Line 4, Myeong-dong Exit 8. Korea's first Gothic building, finished in 1898. The main hall is open to visitors on weekdays; at the weekend it belongs to the congregation.

Namdaemun Market

Fifteen minutes west, or Line 4 to Hoehyeon Exit 7. Cutlassfish and kalguksu alleys, and the biggest of the four Seoul markets we list.

Up Namsan from the south side of Myeongdong, by cable car or on foot. Leave this last: it is the one worth doing after dark.
