Hanbok rental for palace visits

Published version 1 · 2026-10-20

Many visitors rent hanbok near Seoul's palaces. Wearing hanbok can qualify for free general admission at the royal palaces, but only when the outfit meets the official guideline. Before renting - Choose the palace first and check its current opening day, last admission and any reserved areas. - Compare rental shops on the full terms: what the price covers, when the time starts, extra items, deposit and the late-return fee. - For the admission benefit, wear a complete hanbok: a proper upper garment and a hanbok lower garment. Check the palace's current guideline. - Test walking, stairs and the weather in it before leaving the shop. - Save the shop's Korean name, location, phone number and the exact return time. At the palace, follow the staffed entrance's instructions; pay normal admission if staff say the outfit does not qualify.
