Tax refund for tourists (택스리펀)

Published version 1 · 2026-10-20

Qualifying non-resident visitors can claim back tax on eligible goods bought at shops that take part in the tax-refund scheme. Steps - Look for a tax-refund sign and ask before paying. An ordinary receipt from a shop outside the scheme is not enough. - Show your passport when the shop asks. At an immediate-refund shop, eligible tax can be deducted at checkout; otherwise pay the full price and keep the refund voucher. - Keep the goods unused and reachable in case customs asks to see them for export confirmation. Do not check that bag until you have followed the airport's instructions. - Find the customs and refund locations for your actual airport and terminal before travel day, and leave time for them. - Keep the voucher, receipt and card slip until the refund has settled. Eligibility, minimum purchase amounts and payout methods are set by the official rules. Check the current official guide before you shop.
