T-money card (티머니)
Published version 1 · 2026-10-20
T-money is a reloadable transit card used for pay-as-you-go travel on Seoul's subway and buses, and on many buses and subways in other Korean cities.
How travellers use it
- Buy a card and add value at a convenience store or a station machine. Convenience-store services differ by branch, so say whether you want to buy a card or add value, and confirm which payment methods that counter accepts.
- Tap the card on the reader at the subway gate and wait for it to confirm. On buses, tap when you board and again when you get off so transfers are calculated.
- Keep enough balance for the whole route, including transfers.
Before you rely on it
- A time pass can suit some itineraries, but compare it only after checking every line and airport route you plan to use.
- Card rules, fares and machine languages change. Check the official Seoul public-transport page for the current details.
