THE EDITED ROUTE

12 stops, each with a reason.

Times create a useful rhythm. They are not promises about opening hours or travel time.
01

DAY 01 · LIVING WATER

Market streets, green corridor, Uirimji at walking pace

Keep the first day inside Jecheon city. The official car-free route connects the station and markets with the green path and Uirimji; live bus information still overrides any route number copied into a travel article.
  1. 01

    Jecheon Station visitor start

    제천역

Confirm tomorrow's Cheongpung bus and the final return train before leaving the station area. Store luggage instead of carrying it around the reservoir.

Station planning is free · rail fare, lockers and any taxi or bus transfer are separateBuy water or breakfast here only after checking live shop hours; unattended luggage is never a storage plan
  2. 02

Central, Naeto and Dongmun market streets

    중앙시장 · 내토시장 · 동문시장

Use the connected downtown markets for a flexible first meal and a sense of everyday Jecheon rather than reserving a distant wellness restaurant.

Browsing is free · pay the posted total and confirm portions, packaging and card acceptance before orderingHerbal or medicinal branding is not a health guarantee; ask about meat stock, alcohol, allergens and the full price
  3. 03

    Samhan Green Road

    삼한의 초록길

Walk north through the agricultural landscape that still depends on Uirimji. Benches and a level alignment make this the trip's deliberate slow section.

The public green corridor is normally free · transport, events and adjacent private facilities are separateCarry water, pack out waste and keep food or tripods clear of farms, cycle space and the shared path
  4. 04

    Uirimji History Museum

    의림지 역사박물관

Learn how the reservoir stores and distributes water before treating it as a scenic pond. On Monday, keep the outdoor route and do not replace it with a rushed cross-city stop.

Check the current museum admission and closing notice · the outdoor reservoir walk remains a separate public visitUse designated rest areas for drinks; check rules before carrying food inside galleries or recording exhibits
  5. 05

    Uirimji and pine grove

    의림지 · 제림

Circle only the section that matches your energy, pause beneath the old trees and finish before the return bus becomes an anxious deadline.

Public reservoir paths are normally free · parking, seasonal rides, events and private cafés can cost extraProtect the working water edge: use bins, avoid feeding wildlife and never stage food beyond fences or on water-control structures
  6. 06

    Downtown overnight

    제천역 · 중앙시장 생활권 숙박

Stay near the station or central market so the second morning begins with a reliable rural connection, not a resort transfer.

Book one central night for the actual date · breakfast, late check-in, cancellation and luggage terms varyChoose dinner from a posted menu and tell the host about early departure only when breakfast or bag storage is actually included
02

DAY 02 · INLAND SEA

One bus to the lake, one long view, one calm return

Cheongpung is a separate lake district roughly an hour from central Jecheon by public bus. Pick the outbound and return journeys as a pair before buying any timed attraction ticket.
  1. 01

    Cheongpung-bound bus

    제천역 남당초등학교앞 정류장

Board the live-confirmed Cheongpung service with the return screenshot already saved. Official pages list several 900-series services, but frequencies and variants matter more than memorizing one number.

Pay the current local fare · reserve taxi money because a missed rural connection changes the whole dayCarry water and a small permitted snack, but confirm vehicle rules and never eat when it inconveniences other passengers
  2. 02

    Jecheon Tourism Information Center

    제천시 관광정보센터

Check wind, cable-car operation, bus changes and walking access with the lake-district information desk before committing to the day's optional ticket.

Visitor advice is free · attraction tickets, private tours and luggage services are not impliedAsk staff where food is permitted and which nearby businesses are actually open; a recommendation is not an allergy guarantee
  3. 03

    Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex

    청풍문화유산단지

Walk among buildings and objects relocated when Chungju Dam flooded the old settlements. Read this as a preserved collection, not an untouched historical village.

Check the current official admission, exemptions and last entry · parking and nearby attractions are separateUse designated eating areas and never place drinks or food on heritage fabric, walls or display surfaces
  4. 04

    Cheongpung-myeon lunch

    청풍면 점심

Eat near the lake transport node. Choose from a posted menu and keep enough time for either the cable car or a slower heritage walk, not both at a sprint.

Use the posted menu and confirm shared-dish minimums, side-dish refills and card acceptance before orderingFish soup, grilled meat and herb-set meals vary widely; ask about bones, spice, alcohol and serving size
  5. 05

Cheongpungho Cable Car or lakeside pause

    청풍호반케이블카 · 호숫가 휴식

Take the cable car only when wind, lightning and live sales allow it. The lake view and heritage district remain a complete day when the cabins pause.

Optional ticket only · check same-day standard or crystal-cabin price, sales cutoff, discount evidence and refund termsSecure drinks and loose items before boarding; a café or summit kiosk is never guaranteed and food is not part of the ticket
  6. 06

    Return to central Jecheon

    청풍문화유산단지 정류장 · 제천역 귀환

Use the preselected return bus and keep a generous rail buffer. A taxi or official tourism-taxi booking is the fallback, not a last-minute assumption.

Keep the local fare plus a taxi fallback separate from the rail ticket · rebooking can cost more than skipping one viewBuy a portable meal only after the critical return is secure; check whether eating is allowed on the bus or train

COST CONTROL

Know what changes the total.

Use these as planning envelopes, then confirm live tickets, transport and accommodation before paying.
01

One central night

Book for your dates

Favor station or market access over a distant lake view when traveling without a car.

02

City transport

Transit card + buffer

Day one can use local buses and walking; live vehicle information decides the useful route.

03

Cheongpung connection

Bus or tourism taxi

The public bus is economical but infrequent. The city's current tourism-taxi product is the higher-cost flexible option.

04

Cable car

Check live price

A separately operated optional ticket; standard and glass-floor cabins can have different prices.

05

Meals

₩30,000–₩55,000/day

A practical range for market lunch, dinner and drinks, not a promise from a named restaurant.

TRIP BUDGETStay, local transit, meals + optional cable carActual prices vary by date, operator, distance and personal choices.

EDITOR’S NOTES

The choices that make this edit work.

PACE

One district per day

Uirimji and Cheongpungho are not neighboring parks. Sleeping between them turns two long transfers into one intentional morning connection.

City day · lake day
PUBLIC TRANSIT

Save the return before you leave

Cheongpung buses run through rural variants and do not behave like a city subway. Screenshot the live outbound and return stops while you have a clear connection.

A paired journey, not a one-way guess
OPTION

The cable car is not the trip

Strong wind or lightning can stop cabins. The relocated heritage complex, lake district and information center still give the second day a complete shape.

Weather-resilient lake day
FLEXIBILITY

Tourism taxi is a real alternative

For two or three travelers, limited mobility or luggage, compare the city's fixed-duration tourism taxi with several separate rides before choosing the bus.

BEFORE YOU GO

What can still change

  • The official car-free guides are useful route patterns, not a permanent timetable. Confirm the live vehicle, direction and final return in the current Jecheon bus service before boarding.
  • This route needs one night. Day one stays in central Jecheon and Uirimji; Day two uses a separate rural connection to Cheongpung. Do not collapse both districts into a one-day checklist.
  • Book the central overnight before relying on early bag drop, breakfast or late check-in. A lake-view property can add another transfer and weaken the no-car route.
  • Uirimji is a working irrigation reservoir and a nationally designated scenic site. Keep to public paths and do not treat farm edges or water-control structures as photo access.
  • Uirimji itself is normally open, but the history museum and some fountain or waterfall features have separate Monday and seasonal rules. The outdoor walk should remain useful when an indoor door is closed.
  • Samhan Green Road is the calm connector, not a private photo set. Share the path, keep clear of agricultural access and use barriers or closure notices as hard limits.
  • Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex preserves structures and artifacts relocated because of dam construction. Describe it as a relocation-and-preservation site rather than an intact ancient village.
  • The cable car may pause or close during lightning or winds of 15 meters per second or more. Check the operator page on the same day before tying it to a return bus.
  • Standard and glass-floor cable-car cabins can use different prices and sales conditions. A ticket or online listing does not guarantee boarding when weather, inspections or queues intervene.
  • Cheongpung-bound buses can have rural variants and long gaps. Save both stop names, the live outbound and the return before leaving reliable data coverage; ask the information desk when in doubt.
  • The city tourism taxi currently publishes five-hour and eight-hour products with advance-payment and cancellation terms. Recheck prices and included attractions at booking rather than treating this guide as a voucher.
  • Herbal cuisine and tea are cultural experiences, not medical treatment. Do not infer health effects, and check interactions or ingredients if you take medication or have allergies.
  • Ask before filming market staff, children, cable-car passengers, payment screens or identifiable visitors. A public attraction is not blanket consent for commercial social content.
  • Call 1330 for multilingual travel information, 112 for police and 119 for fire or medical emergency. Keep the accommodation address, return departure and essential phrases available offline.
