Four steps that reduce guesswork
1Choose one kind of pocha—a street tent, a market stall or an indoor pocha-style pub—and a public meeting point. Their hours, prices and weather risk are different.
2Check that stall's or pub's hours, minimum order and payment method. A street tent may be cash-only and may not open at all in bad weather.
3Set your leave time before the first order. A pocha closes when the owner decides, and the last train does not wait for the last dish.
4Record the stall or building you actually sat at in Footprints. Street pocha move, and last year's pin helps nobody.
SAFETY & RETURN
Share landmarks, not your room
Never leave a drink unattended or accept an opened drink from a stranger. Do not drive after drinking.
Share only a public meeting point. Keep your accommodation address and live room details private.
Use a licensed taxi, confirm the plate in the app and use 112 for an immediate police emergency.
CONSENT & ETIQUETTE

Order only what the table can finish and ask before moving dishes or chairs between vendors.
A shared dish does not require shared alcohol. Separate glasses and non-alcoholic orders are normal requests.
Ordering alcohol is optional and a clear no should end the offer. A pocha table is a food table too.
Ask before photographing the owner, the cooking or another table. A tent has no back room and everyone can hear you.
Keep voices and groups clear of residential doors, pavements and station gates, and leave the seat and the pavement as you found them.
