YOUR FIRST MOVE

Start from where you actually arrive.

FLYING IN

Gimhae International Airport

Airport Station is on the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail. Transfer at Sasang or Daejeo for the urban rail network, or check the airport's current direct-bus options before you travel.Gimhae Airport public transport Checked 2026-08-11
02

GETTING AROUND

Use the network the city really has.

  1. USE FIRST

    Metro for cross-city moves

The urban rail network includes Lines 1–4, the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail and the Donghae Line. Check the exact first and last train for your station rather than relying on one citywide time.Busan Transportation Corporation Checked 2026-08-11
  2. PAYMENT

    Keep a transit card ready

Visit Busan lists T-money and other compatible transport cards for local transfers. Tap as instructed and confirm current fare rules on the operator site.Visit Busan transportation guide Checked 2026-08-11
  3. PLAN AROUND

Do not treat every coast as nearby

A Haeundae morning and a Nampo evening can be done, but the transfer is part of the day. Group beach, central and old-downtown stops instead of zig-zagging.Visit Busan official travel guide Checked 2026-08-11

ONE DAY

One day in Busan

An order that works, with the reason for each stop. Times are a rhythm, not opening hours.
  1. Haeundae Beach해운대해수욕장Morning is the only time the beach is walkable rather than crowded.
    Open in map
  2. Haedong Yonggungsa해동용궁사A seaside temple north-east of Haeundae; going later means going back on yourself.
    Open in map
  3. Jagalchi Market or local seafood자갈치시장The market is the reason to eat in Busan rather than anywhere else.

  4. Gamcheon Culture Village감천문화마을Afternoon light on a hillside of painted houses; it is a climb, so not first.
    Open in map
  5. Gwangalli Beach at sunset광안리해수욕장Gwangan Bridge lights as the sun goes; arriving after is arriving late.
    Open in map
  6. The Bay 101 night view더베이101The city skyline over water, and a short ride from Gwangalli.
    Open in map

Why this order works

  • Coast in the morning, city at night — the two things Busan has that Seoul does not.
  • The temple is north-east of the beach, so it comes second rather than as a detour.
  • Sunset at Gwangalli, because the bridge is the view and it needs the hour.
Check opening hours and closures on each place page before you go — this plan sets the order, not the facts.

Transport

Gimhae Airport to your Busan accommodation

Use the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail and transfer at Sasang or Daejeo for the lowest-friction rail route, choose an airport bus when it stops near your accommodation, and use a legitimate taxi when luggage or arrival time makes transfers impractical.

Using public transport in Busan

Plan Busan by district, use a rechargeable transit card for metro and bus transfers, check whether a pass covers the Donghae Line or Busan-Gimhae Light Rail, and verify the final train and hillside walk before every evening route.

CHOOSE A BASE

The useful answer depends on your trip.

01

Haeundae

해운대

Beach days, east-coast sights and resort stays
WHY
Line 2 access and a dense cluster of seafront activities make the eastern side easy to use without crossing town every morning.
TRADE-OFF
Busan Station, Nampo and the airport side are not next door; allow for a cross-city ride.
Naver Map ↗Kakao Map ↗
02

Seomyeon

서면

Transit connections, shopping and late food
WHY
Lines 1 and 2 meet here, so it is a practical compromise when your plans are split between the old downtown and eastern beaches.
TRADE-OFF
It is an urban base, not a beach stay. You still commute to the coast.

03

Nampo + Busan Station

남포 · 부산역

Rail arrivals, markets, port views and old Busan
WHY
Use this side for Nampo, Jagalchi, Yeongdo connections and an uncomplicated departure from Busan Station.
TRADE-OFF
Haeundae and the eastern coast sit across the city on a separate corridor.
