THE EDITED ROUTE

6 stops, each with a reason.

Times create a useful rhythm. They are not promises about opening hours or travel time.
01

ONE DAECHEON DAY

Station first, one mud choice, beach and port after

The 2026 festival ended on August 9. This route therefore begins with a status check and works with a reserved indoor mud treatment or no paid mud activity at all.
  1. 01

    Daecheon Station information check

    대천역 · 관광안내소

Confirm the return train, the live beach bus stop and whether any mud program is actually operating before leaving the rail gateway.

Information checking is free · rail, local bus, taxi buffer, locker and any mud program are separateBuy water and a simple breakfast only after saving the return; station and visitor-desk hours can differ from train service
  2. 02

Mud Theme Park or live festival zone

    보령머드테마파크 · 머드엑스포광장

During an officially announced festival, exchange a valid ticket for the correct zone. Outside it, use only a separately confirmed Mud Beauty Healing Center reservation; the empty plaza is not a substitute festival.

Choose one live festival ticket, one confirmed treatment or ₩0 skip · never infer admission from an old posterFood can be prohibited in activity zones; ask about ingredients and skin contact separately because mud is not a food or medical product
  3. 03

    Daecheon Beach public shore

    대천해수욕장 · 머드광장

Rinse all activity mud in the designated facility, change into clean beachwear and use the sea only when the official swimming season and safety staff allow it.

The public promenade is normally free · showers, lockers, changing rooms, rentals and seasonal water activities can charge separatelyRinse and change before eating, keep sand and wet gear away from food and never assume beach vendors operate outside the season
  4. 04

    Daecheon Port

    대천항 · 대천항수산시장

Walk or take a short local connection north for an early meal. Confirm the seafood's total, preparation charge and serving size before ordering.

Confirm weight, market price, preparation, cooking, side dishes and complete total before seafood is cut or cookedShellfish, raw fish, fish stock and cross-contact are common; a posted menu is more useful than a seasonal 'must-eat' claim
  5. 05

    West-coast pause

    대천항 해안 · 대천해수욕장 권역

Use the public waterfront for the final light if weather cooperates. A drone show, concert or firework is included only when the official schedule names this exact date.

The public waterfront is normally free · a sky bike, cruise, concert, drone show or private activity is separate and never assumedSecure loose packaging in coastal wind, use bins and avoid carrying hot food or glass near the water edge
  6. 06

    Return to Daecheon Station

    대천역 귀환

Board the live-confirmed bus or taxi with a rail buffer. Do not trade a reserved return for one more unverified night program.

Keep the local fare, taxi fallback and live rail ticket separate · a missed last useful train can change the whole budgetBuy a portable meal only after the train connection is secure and follow the operator's eating and waste rules

COST CONTROL

Know what changes the total.

Use these as planning envelopes, then confirm live tickets, transport and accommodation before paying.
01

Return rail

Book live fare

Reserve the actual Janghang Line train; festival weekends and summer evenings can sell differently from an ordinary weekday.

02

Beach transfer

Transit card + taxi buffer

Use the live local bus. A taxi buffer protects the return when event traffic or a late meal changes the plan.

03

Mud choice

One ticket or treatment

Future festival zones, indoor beauty programs and self-mud areas have different access, age and reservation rules.

04

Change-and-rinse kit

Bring your own

Dark quick-dry clothes, towel, clean underwear, waterproof pouch and a bag for wet items prevent avoidable purchases.

05

Port meal

₩15,000–₩35,000

Ask for the complete amount before seafood is prepared; larger sets can exceed this planning allowance.

TRIP BUDGETRail, local transport, meals + one date-dependent mud experienceActual prices vary by date, operator, distance and personal choices.

EDITOR’S NOTES

The choices that make this edit work.

STATUS

Check before packing for mud

The 2026 festival has finished and the next edition is not assumed. A live official ticket page—not an old poster—decides whether festival clothes belong in your bag.

Finished event · evergreen coast
ONE CHOICE

One mud session is enough

Choose the festival zone, a reserved indoor program or neither. Booking two treatments does not make the sea more meaningful and can crowd out the beach itself.

Activity, not obligation
HYGIENE

Rinse before the next zone

Keep mud away from eyes and mouth, follow staff instructions and wash it off completely before entering a water-play area or putting on dry clothes.

Managed mud · designated shower
RETURN

Night events do not own your train

Concerts and extended hours belong to named dates. If the official program does not fit the reserved return, stay for the sea and leave the stage for another trip.

Rail buffer first
The poster is a visual memory aid. Use the structured route, live map and sources for decisions.

BEFORE YOU GO

What can still change

  • The 29th Boryeong Mud Festival ran from July 24 to August 9, 2026 and has ended. This checked guide does not invent 2027 dates, prices or performers.
  • An old festival poster, map pin or empty event plaza is not evidence of a live program. Use the organizer's current dated ticket page and zone notice before packing activity clothes or traveling for mud.
  • For 2026, the official paid experience zone used different weekday and Friday-to-Sunday hours, a maintenance break, zone-specific tickets and an August 5 safety closure. Future visitors must read the new year's ticket page from the top rather than copying those rules.
  • The 2026 regular zone required a minimum height of 140 centimeters, while adults could enter the family zone only as a guardian with a child. Zone eligibility is not interchangeable.
  • The organizer warned that the ground is slippery, shoes and food are excluded from experience zones, valuables can be lost, intoxication is prohibited and some photography requires permission. Follow the current on-site rules even when an old guide says otherwise.
  • Mud is an activity material, not medical treatment. Keep it away from eyes, mouth, broken or irritated skin, stop when discomfort begins and ask staff about ingredients or accessibility before entering.
  • A cosmetic or wellness service does not become medically suitable because it uses Boryeong mud. Travelers with allergies, skin conditions, pregnancy, medication or other concerns need the provider's ingredients and their own medical advice.
  • Boryeong City opened Daecheon Beach for supervised swimming from July 4 to August 23 in 2026. The sand remains visitable outside that period, but lifeguarded swimming is never inferred from an open promenade.
  • An open promenade does not guarantee showers, lockers, changing rooms, food stalls, rescue staff or water-activity rentals. Confirm the exact seasonal facility before relying on it for rinsing or swimming.
  • Daecheon Station and the beach are separate. Official tourism material describes a local-bus connection, but old frequency tables are not a live timetable; confirm the stop and final return on the travel date.
  • Save the return train and a realistic station-transfer buffer before buying any mud or night-program ticket. Event traffic, rinse time, wet luggage and a port meal all make a last-minute connection fragile.
  • The Mud Beauty Healing Center is a separately booked service, normally closed Monday and Tuesday in the current city notice. Confirm hours, price, skin suitability and reservation directly rather than arriving as a festival fallback without a booking.
  • The route is complete with no paid mud activity. Station, public shore, port meal and coastal pause remain the honest non-festival day; do not substitute unstaffed self-applied mud from the beach.
  • Sky bikes, fireworks, drone shows, K-pop stages and pet-beach programs are date-, weather- or operator-dependent. None is required for the station, mud, shore and port route to work.
  • Ask before filming staff, treatment users, children, changing facilities, payment screens or identifiable beach visitors. A festival ticket or public beach is not blanket consent for promotional content.
  • Call 1330 for multilingual travel information, 112 for police and 119 for fire or medical emergency. Keep the return train, rinse plan and clean-clothes kit available offline.
