THE EDITED ROUTE

6 stops, each with a reason.

Times create a useful rhythm. They are not promises about opening hours or travel time.
01

ONE CUP · ONE WALK · NO CAFE RACE

Make six decisions inside one Anmok visit

This is a field sequence inside Gangneung Coffee Street, not six separate cafes or a fixed timetable. Cafe operations, beach conditions, lounge services and transport must all be checked live.
  1. 01

    Pick one cafe by priority

    우선순위로 카페 한 곳 고르기

Walk one short block first and compare what matters today: house-roasted coffee, a specific menu, sea view, quiet seating, step-free entry, toilet access or a takeaway. Choose one strong match instead of collecting storefronts.

Compare the posted drink size, price and any seat or one-drink policy before joining a queue
  2. 02

Read the menu, price and last order

    메뉴·가격·라스트오더 확인

Check the exact drink, size, price and availability before ordering. Closing time and last order are not the same, while bakery stock, upper-floor seating and rooftop access can finish earlier.

Ask for the final total before payment; additions and size changes can alter itDisplay names and photos do not prove ingredients, caffeine level or allergen controls
  3. 03

    Order every variable clearly

    주문 조건 정확히 말하기

Say hot or iced, size, dine-in or takeaway, preferred sweetness, milk choice and whether you need decaf. Bean or roast choices are available only when the cafe actually offers them.

Confirm surcharges for alternative milk, extra shots, syrup, takeaway packaging or refillsAlternative milk can still contain soy, oats, nuts, sugar or additives and may share steam wands or equipment
  4. 04

    Ask about caffeine and allergens

    카페인·알레르기 확인

Decaf does not mean caffeine-free, and an independent cafe may not publish a caffeine number. Ask what can be confirmed and show written dietary needs before buying a drink or dessert.

If staff cannot verify a critical ingredient or cross-contact risk, choose a simpler sealed product or do not orderCoffee drinks and desserts can involve dairy, soy, nuts, wheat, egg, sesame, alcohol flavoring or shared tools
  5. 05

    Take one short sea-and-pine walk

    바다·솔숲 짧게 걷기

Let the cafe become a pause in Anmok rather than the whole visit. Choose a short promenade or signed shore segment that suits wind, waves, heat, rain, mobility and the return; swimming is a separate seasonal activity.

The walk is free; weather, managed-beach periods and facility access change live
  6. 06

Check the live bus and return

    실시간 버스·귀가 확인

Open the official Gangneung bus system before the final sip and calculate the station or accommodation transfer with a personal buffer. Use a taxi fallback when a bus gap would endanger a reserved train.

Live bus or taxi fare; never build the return around an old route number or screenshot

EDITOR’S NOTES

The choices that make this edit work.

COFFEE CITY

The street is one chapter

Anmok's cafe line grew inside a wider Gangneung coffee culture shaped by roasters, baristas, the coast and an annual festival. Enjoy the cup without pretending every cafe has the same story.

Context first · brand ranking never
ONE-CUP RULE

Choose by today's priority

A sea view, careful roast, quiet seat and step-free entrance may point to different cafes. Decide what matters before the queue decides for you.

Roast · view · access · time
TRAVEL LOUNGE

Useful, but check it live

The city describes rest space, tourist help, lockers, restrooms, an ATM and reservable workation space at the Anmok Travel Lounge. Confirm current hours and each service before relying on it.

A facility, not a 24-hour guarantee
FESTIVAL

October changes the street

The official 2026 Gangneung Coffee Festival is scheduled for October 21–25. Festival crowds and programs are a separate operating mode, so check the live program and transport again.

2026 dates checked · program still live

BEFORE YOU GO

What can still change

  • This guide is one six-decision visit inside Anmok, not six cafes and not a citywide route. Pick one cafe, one drink and one short walk; save another style for a return trip.
  • Gangneung Coffee Street is the cafe-lined road at Anmok Beach, with the official visitor address around 20-1 Changhae-ro 14beon-gil. Individual businesses control their own entrances, floors, seats, toilets, menus and operating notices.
  • No cafe is ranked or sponsored here. Compare one short block by roast or menu interest, sea view, crowd, seating, step-free access, toilet availability and the time you actually have.
  • Read the menu before entering a long queue. Confirm the drink, size, price, sold-out status, seating rule, takeaway option and final total; bakery stock, rooftop access and last order may finish before the published closing time.
  • State hot or iced, size, dine-in or takeaway, sweetness, milk and decaf needs. Do not assume every cafe offers bean choice, alternative milk, reduced sweetness, English ordering or the same customization vocabulary.
  • Decaf is not caffeine-free. Korea's food-labeling standard now defines when coffee may be labeled decaffeinated, but an independent prepared drink may not publish an exact caffeine amount; ask and choose conservatively if caffeine matters medically.
  • Written allergen needs are safer than pointing at a photo. Drinks and desserts may contain dairy, soy, nuts, wheat, egg, sesame or alcohol flavoring, while grinders, steam wands, blenders, tongs and display cases can create cross-contact.
  • If a critical ingredient or cross-contact question cannot be confirmed, do not treat silence as safe. Choose a simpler sealed item with a readable label or skip the order.
  • Anmok Beach and Coffee Street work year-round as a shore visit, but swimming, pet-beach zones, showers and managed-beach services are seasonal. Check the current beach notice rather than reusing a 2025 operating period.
  • A sea walk is not a swimming promise. Strong wind, wind waves, lightning, heat, cold, poor air, slippery surfaces or an official restriction can shorten or cancel the shore portion.
  • The city-published Solhyang Healing Coastal Trail connects Gangmun, Songjeong and Anmok, but you do not need the full route to enjoy Coffee Street. Choose a signed segment that fits footwear, mobility, weather and return time.
  • Do not walk barefoot with broken skin, and seek medical advice first if diabetes or a foot condition increases infection risk. The city's own trail guide gives this warning.
  • The Anmok Travel Lounge has been described by the city with tourist help, rest space, lockers, restrooms, an ATM, souvenirs and reservable workation space. Hours, locker capacity, charging and room availability must be confirmed live.
  • Old tourism articles may show bus numbers, fares or timetables that have changed. Use the official Gangneung Bus Information System immediately before boarding and verify the stop direction, live arrival and final connection.
  • If you hold a reserved intercity train or bus, calculate Coffee Street departure backwards from the live local transfer plus a personal buffer. One more cafe is optional; the booked return is not.
  • The 2026 Gangneung Coffee Festival is officially scheduled for October 21–25 at Coffee Street and across the city. The official visitor listing says detailed 2026 programs are still being updated, so dates do not guarantee a specific tasting, performance or free entry.
  • Accessibility varies by cafe and floor. Confirm the exact entrance, threshold, lift, aisle, table, toilet and assistance needed; a flat promenade does not prove every business is accessible.
  • Carry a charged phone and save the Korean place name 강릉커피거리. Call 112 for police, 119 for fire or medical emergency and 1330 for multilingual travel support.
