Pohang sea route: one real night, two coastal clusters

포항 바다 여행 1박 2일 코스Arrive into the city-bay cluster, sleep once, then give the Homi Peninsula its own return-protected day instead of pretending six coastal pins fit into one afternoon.
A true overnight Pohang route: market lunch, a weather-gated Space Walk and Yeongildae at night on Day 1; Guryongpo, Homigot and a protected station return on Day 2.
Korea Era two-day Pohang poster with Day 1 Jukdo Market, Space Walk and Yeongildae, an overnight transition, then Day 2 Guryongpo, Homigot and a station return

THE EDITED ROUTE

6 stops, each with a reason.

Times create a useful rhythm. They are not promises about opening hours or travel time.
01

DAY 1 · CITY BAY

Arrive, eat, test the wind gate, then sleep by the night coast

The labels are sequence cues, not fixed opening times. Keep Jukdo, Hwanho Park and Yeongildae in one urban cluster; save tomorrow's peninsula route and the final station return before going to bed.
  1. 01

    Jukdo Market lunch

    죽도시장

Start with one clearly priced meal after arrival. Choose the stall or restaurant only after checking the menu, portion, preparation charge and final total; individual businesses keep their own hours.

Meal-specific · confirm the complete totalRaw fish, mulhoe and shared seafood kitchens can involve fish, shellfish, soy, wheat, sesame, chilli and cross-contact; ask before ordering
  2. 02

    Space Walk at Hwanho Park

    환호공원 스페이스워크

Open the operator page before leaving the market. Wind, rain, the monthly closure, capacity and height rule can remove the walk; enjoy Hwanho Park from the ground and continue safely when the gate is closed.

Operator currently lists free entry · live gate conditions win
  3. 03

    Yeongildae coast and the overnight

    영일대 해수욕장

Use the public bay for the evening, then stay in a central licensed accommodation that keeps dinner and the next morning's transport practical. The overnight is part of the route, not an invisible gap.

Accommodation varies · confirm address, check-in and cancellation
02

DAY 2 · HOMI PENINSULA

One peninsula direction, then a return with real margin

Guryongpo and Homigot belong to the same southeast corridor. Do not add Igari, Naeyeonsan or another north-coast pin; reopen Pohang BIS and preserve the last useful station connection.
  1. 01

    Guryongpo Japanese House Street

    구룡포 일본인 가옥거리

Walk the public street with its colonial-era migration and port history in view. The street remains a neighborhood route, while the Modern History Museum has a separate current closure notice and must not be promised.

Public-street visit · museum access requires a live check
  2. 02

    Homigot Sunrise Square

    호미곶 해맞이광장

Visit in daylight by default. Attempt sunrise only after confirming the date-specific KASI time, weather and warnings, a legal pre-dawn ride, safe walking access and a return; clouds do not make the trip a failure.

Public square currently free · transport and conditions vary
  3. 03

    Pohang Station return buffer

    포항역 귀환

Treat the final peninsula bus as a dependency, not a suggestion. Check the exact Korean stop, direction and live arrival in Pohang BIS, choose an earlier useful bus and keep a licensed-taxi reserve before the intercity departure.

Live fare and connection-specific · never plan to the final minute

EDITOR’S NOTES

The choices that make this edit work.

TRUE OVERNIGHT

Night-to-morning is a real transition

Day 1 ends at Yeongildae with a booked bed. Day 2 begins as a separate Homi Peninsula travel day; the page never disguises six stops as one day.

3 stops · sleep · 3 stops
SLEEP STRATEGY

Central sleep or peninsula sleep

A central stay simplifies the first night and final station return. A peninsula stay helps only when sunrise access is genuinely confirmed and the longer return still works.

Choose by transport, not the sunrise photo
LIVE GATES

Wind can close Space Walk

The operator's live gate outranks the poster. Keep Hwanho Park as the fallback and never cross a barrier or pose on an unsafe edge.

Rain · wind · capacity · height
RETURN RULE

One peninsula corridor

Guryongpo and Homigot share a direction. Northern detours create a different trip and are deliberately excluded from this compact overnight.

Last useful bus + station margin
The poster is a visual memory aid. Use the structured route, live map and sources for decisions.

BEFORE YOU GO

What can still change

  • This is a true one-night, two-day route. Day 1 has Jukdo Market, Space Walk and Yeongildae followed by accommodation; Day 2 has Guryongpo, Homigot and the protected return to Pohang Station.
  • Stay centrally around the city-bay transport area when you want the simplest night and final return. Choose a peninsula-area licensed accommodation only when its exact check-in, pre-dawn access and next-day station return have been confirmed.
  • Pohang BIS is the live authority for route, stop, direction, arrival and timetable searches. Save the exact Korean stop and one earlier useful departure; do not build the route around an old bus number or screenshot.
  • Space Walk's current operator schedule changes between April–October and November–March, and weekdays differ from weekends and holidays. The first Monday closure can move when it is a holiday, so open the live operator page for the exact date.
  • The operator currently limits Space Walk to 150 simultaneous users, does not allow children under 110 centimeters and automatically closes the structure for rain or wind of 8 meters per second or more. The on-site gate and staff instruction always win.
  • When Space Walk is closed, remain in the public Hwanho Park area or continue to Yeongildae. Never cross a barrier, climb an exterior element or stand on coastal rocks to recreate the image.
  • Jukdo Market is a large market, not one restaurant with one schedule. Individual stalls, fish-market sellers and dining rooms vary; confirm opening, portion, preparation fee, card acceptance and the final total before buying.
  • Raw seafood is not a compulsory Pohang experience. Pregnant, immunocompromised or otherwise vulnerable travelers should follow their clinician's food-safety advice and choose thoroughly cooked food when appropriate.
  • Ask about fish, shellfish, soy, wheat, sesame, chilli and shared surfaces. Translation cards reduce misunderstanding but do not make a shared seafood kitchen allergen-free.
  • Yeongildae is the night anchor, not a promise of a particular hotel or view. Verify that the accommodation is licensed, that the map pin matches the Korean address, and that check-in, accessibility, cancellation and late arrival work.
  • Guryongpo Japanese House Street is a public historic district. Describe the colonial-period context accurately, keep residents and businesses out of identifiable content without permission and do not treat private doors as a photo set.
  • Pohang City's current Guryongpo page says the Modern History Museum is closed through November 2026. The street walk can still work, but do not promise museum entry; check the newest city notice because reopening timing can change.
  • Homigot Sunrise Square is currently listed as open public space, but sunrise itself is not guaranteed. Use the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute for the exact date and the Korea Meteorological Administration for clouds, wind, rain, heat and warnings.
  • Attempting sunrise requires a confirmed legal pre-dawn ride, a safe lit approach, suitable weather, warm or heat-protective clothing, charged phone and a return plan. If any layer is missing, visit Homigot in daylight.
  • Do not walk onto wave-washed rocks, breakwaters or closed coastal edges for a sunrise angle. Obey barriers and local warnings; 119 is the fire or medical emergency number and 112 is police.
  • Pohang's official 1-night 2-day city-tour example is a bookable alternative, not this independent-transit route. Its current page says the 1-night 2-day course requires at least 10 people and remains subject to reservation, operation and weather.
  • Do not copy the city tour's northern Igari and Naeyeonsan segment into Day 2. It uses organized transport and a longer program; independent travelers keep Day 2 to Guryongpo, Homigot and the return.
  • For a taxi reserve, use a licensed taxi or established app, match the plate and vehicle, confirm the meter or lawful fare method and keep the trip record. Never accept an unsolicited ride at an isolated coastal stop.
  • Check Pohang's weather and coastal CCTV only as planning aids; a camera image does not prove that a path, sea edge or attraction is open or safe. On-site control and official warnings override it.
  • Carry independent return funds and a charged phone. Call 1330 for multilingual travel support, 112 for police and 119 for fire or medical help; no sunrise or final photo outranks a safe return.
