What can still change

• The five stops form one mountain-to-sea route, but the suggested times are pacing aids rather than opening hours or transport promises. Start with a light Seoraksan visit and continue north only when the live return still works.
• This is not a summit itinerary. A long Ulsanbawi, Daecheongbong or other demanding hike deserves its own day; remove the beach and city checklist instead of compressing mountain risk into the morning.
• Check Korea National Park Service trail controls and Korea Meteorological Administration warnings before leaving. Rain, strong wind, heat, snow, ice, poor visibility, a forest-fire restriction or an official closure overrides this route.
• Seorak Cable Car is optional. Its official operator says the daily operating time changes with season, weather and on-site conditions, advance reservations are not accepted and tickets are bought on site; high wind or bad weather can stop service.
• Sokcho City currently publishes routes 7 and 7-1 toward Seoraksan, but the downloadable timetable can age. Use the live Sokcho bus information system and confirm the correct direction and last useful return before boarding.
• Sokcho Beach is a daytime walk in this route, not a swimming promise. Managed swimming areas, lifeguards, opening dates, water access, pets, fireworks and weather controls follow the current official beach notice and posted instructions.
• Abai Village is a community shaped by people displaced from Hamgyeong-do during the Korean War, not merely a drama set. Keep residential lanes quiet, ask before photographing people and do not enter homes or working areas.
• The gaetbae is a separate live service and may change with weather. The official city page currently says pets are not allowed; verify operating conditions, fare and accessibility rather than treating the small ferry as guaranteed.
• At Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market, individual stalls set hours, prices, card acceptance, allergens and seafood-preparation charges. Check the displayed price and total before ordering; no single queue is mandatory.
• Yeonggeumjeong is the flexible finish. Stay on the public deck, keep away from wave-wet rocks and shorten or remove it in strong wind, high waves, ice, darkness or when an intercity departure needs the buffer.
• Carry a charged phone and save Korean stop names. Call 112 for police, 119 for fire or medical emergency and 1330 for multilingual travel support.
